For Mother’s Day we created a butterfly garden for Meg. Tiny milkweed plants and hand painted butterflies. The plants grew and bloomed. Monarches arrived. Caterpillars hatched and ate and ate (we gave some to Ezekiel’s second grade class). And now we have 8 chrysalises hanging from our deck and house (make that seven… Appa ate one).

I had coffee with a friend and he asked, how did the butterflies find you? The monarches only lay eggs on milkweed, so I guess they can smell the flowers… but really, I am clueless — just amazed by the whole process. Tiny eggs. Very Hungry Caterpillars (Meg loves their little feet, “it is like they have bitty black shoes”). Soon climbing high to form chrysalises.
The world is incredible. And even though know I don’t understand the details, with just a little effort, our family joined creation! This is God’s constant invitation — join in making the world better.
