Priorities

Ezekiel and I go out to breakfast every Friday morning. My choice is donuts, his is a McDs McGriddle. This was his week and I pointed out the Happy Meal display case — the prize is Pokemon cards.

“I know how to open that.”

What? He is already turning the lock dials. Boom, the case swings open! Agh, lets close that…

The code is the super challenging all zero combination! Still, who plays with the combo until it pops open?! I am both proud and … worried!

But there are a lot of things Ezekiel doesn’t notice… I came home from the office and found him sitting on the couch. Where is everyone? I don’t know? Are you home alone? … looking around, Maybe?**

Priorities.

Make sure they are set to win the prize. For me the prize is a joyful relationship with my son. So we prioritize McGriddles and Donuts. But for the prize to last long term, I need to keep him out of jail… so I should prioritize less lock picking… 😉

** Ezekiel was not home alone (Meg wanted to make sure I included that details — her priority is to not have child protective services called!)
