“I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” — Matthew 25:31-40
Each year Chandler works all Thanksgiving week to prepare meals. Peeling, mashing endless pounds of potatoes. Making pies, adding sides to the turkey and ham. We deliver a meal to anyone who calls in the Northland on Thanksgiving. That morning is full of packing and organizing. My family took one of the many delivery routes. At one stop the older gentleman met us at the door of his apartment building. Everyone was coming to his room for the celebration. He was excited, bursting with thankfulness.
In Matthew 25 the righteous wonder and question Jesus. When did we see you hungry, thirsty, sick? “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (v40). This pulls back the curtain on the amazing truth that God not only walks with us. He feels through us. When we are hungry, He is hungry. When we break, He breaks.
As we handed that man meals to share and gave him a full extra pie for the party… we felt not only his thanksgiving, but the Spirit was giving thanks.
This little act of giving is the most wonderful part of the day for me.

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. The season to prepare for the arrival (advent) of Jesus. Who not only shares our hunger, but shared in death, that we might share in His LIFE! And become a part of God’s family. As we wait for Christmas to arrive, I hope you will share time with our church family. Join us each Sunday at 10:30, in person or streaming live.
