Just about everyone I work with has a birthday this week. So I bought them all the same mug. No, this was not a twisted joke to force them to hand wash their cups! I also bought Meg one and I do the dishes at home.
I gifted the mugs because I love the vision and creativity. It sees beyond what has always been a bathroom sign and uncovers what could be. As we look at the ladies around us, I think we might say this mug reveals the truth!
And this is how Jesus sees me. Past the rugged good looks π okay, beyond the aging stress lines, He sees that I am still made in the image of God.
Hebrews writes that Jesus intercedes for us (7:25). I think part of what Jesus speaks is a whisper of ages past… before the world was broken by sin… “Remember when We marked Sean with our image? Remember who We created Sean to become? Filled with our grace Sean will be that person!”
Notice in the illustration, coffee fills the cup, just as Jesus’s grace fills God’s children. So we could also say that coffee is God’s grace. π

This Sunday we continue Pouring Over Hebrews. We will land in chapter seven. We will also have a baptism and communion — a good Sunday. I hope you will join us at 10:30, in person or stream live.
